Kaleidoscope Prism Stone
Kaleidoscope prism stones are a unique collection of colorful minerals that bring to mind beautiful stained glass windows or a view thru its twirling namesake.

A relatively recent find from Utah, kaleidoscope stones are rocks comprised of several minerals in varying amounts. The bright colors come from fluorite crystals (purple), malachite (green), and chrysocolla (blue). Quartz agates and jaspers add additional colors.
These photos are of lapidary slabs that are all smaller than six inches square, cut approximately 4mm thick. Typically they would be further cut into smaller cabochons for jewelry. I don’t usually purchase newly cut slabs, preferring older & abandoned rock collections, but these will disappear as they are cut and used up. Photos are taken with a Nikon 105 macro lens.
